Home Wi-Fi & network installation in Columbia, SC

Strong, steady Wi-Fi in every room. We find out why your connection struggles, fix the cause, and hard-wire the devices that should be wired.

Most Wi-Fi problems aren't caused by your internet plan. They come from where the router sits, what the walls are made of, how many devices are competing for signal, and equipment that was never set up properly. Buying a more expensive router rarely fixes that on its own.

J2 Wired starts by testing your home room by room. Then we recommend and install the setup that fits your layout, whether that's a mesh system, ceiling-mounted access points, or a few well-placed Ethernet runs.

What's included

  • Wi-Fi coverage check

We test signal and speed throughout the house to find dead zones and the reasons behind them.

  • Ubiquiti UniFi & access points

Ubiquiti UniFi access points and mesh systems placed for full coverage, including upstairs, garages, and patios.

  • Router & modem setup

Clean configuration, current firmware, strong passwords, and modern Wi-Fi security.

  • Ethernet drops

Cat6 runs to home offices, TVs, gaming consoles, and access points for the fastest, most reliable connection.

  • Guest & smart-home networks

Separate networks for guests and smart devices, so they stay off the network your computers use.

  • Troubleshooting

Slow speeds, video calls that drop, and devices that won't stay connected.

Signs your home network needs work

  • Wi-Fi is fine near the router but weak upstairs, in the back rooms, or outside
  • Video calls freeze or drop while you're working from home
  • Streaming buffers in the evening when everyone is online
  • You have dozens of smart devices, cameras, and TVs on one network
  • Your gaming console or TV would be better on a wired connection

Frequently asked questions

Should I get mesh Wi-Fi or access points?

Mesh is quick to set up and works well in most homes. Wired access points, connected back to the router with Ethernet, give the most consistent speeds, especially in larger homes or houses with brick or plaster walls. We'll recommend one based on your layout after testing.

Will a new router fix my slow Wi-Fi?

Sometimes, but not always. Placement, interference, and building materials are often the real problem. We test first so you don't spend money on equipment you don't need.

Can you run Ethernet in a finished house?

In most homes, yes. Cable is usually routed through the attic, crawlspace, or existing paths in the walls. We confirm the best route during the site visit.

Should I buy equipment before you come out?

It's best to wait until after the site visit. We'll recommend equipment that fits your home, your devices, and your internet plan.
